Education Is Reconstruction

volti studenti rwandesi

Despite the hindering effects of the genocide in 1994, we believe Rwanda’s reconstruction can be achieved through education.

Due to the high cost of education (annual school fees, educational materials, uniforms, cafeteria fees, matresses for children to sleep at school, soap, etc.), the high poverty rate and difficult living conditions prevent much of the youth from studying.

Iramiro Project

As in the rest of Africa, in Rwanda AIDS virus affects a growing number of people. Iramiro centre in Busanza (Kigali) is a structure intended for HIV-positive women and children who got no means. This centre opened in 2006, but right after its building, the funds necessary to provide food and basic medical care for children failed.

Women At Work ...

donna della cooperativa tuzamurane

Since the genocide, women have played a central role in politics, the economy, and in Rwandan society. This is why Turi kumwe supports the initiative of small women’s self-managed cooperatives, devoted to creation of local handicraft products made of papyrus or banana leaves.
